Global Education Derby brings about local and global change to work towards a fairer and more sustainable world. We do this by working with young people, communities and educators.
We specialise in education for the 21st century – the thinking and emotional skills to deal with social challenges stemming from globalisation.
For schools, we run teacher training programmes and student workshops on a range of topics. We offer customised support for whole school development and provide practical advice on curriculum enrichment. We also develop our own projects in partnership with schools and teachers.
We work directly with young people through small projects that demonstrate the effectiveness of global youth work in reaching disaffected young people and breaking the cycle of exclusion.
GED have a wide range of resources – online and paper - covering all key stages and curriculum areas. These include issues-based teaching packs, locality packs, environmental resources and artefact boxes, as well as youth resources for Global Youth Work. These are available to loan (free of charge) to members.
Most of our work is carried out locally in Derby and Derbyshire, with some regional provision across the East Midlands.
