We work with teachers, youth workers, and other educators to promote increased awareness of the importance of global citizenship in the lives of young people, and to offer opportunities for reflective, creative and innovative work that develop the themes of sustainable development within the policies and practices of the education system.

What we offer

Training and Advice

From music and fashion to poverty and terrorism, young people's lives are intimately connected to the complex and fast-changing world around them. This offers both exciting opportunities and difficult challenges to young people and those who work with them. Education programmes have to reflect the new global realities if they are to remain relevant, but it isn't always obvious to teachers and youth workers how to do this.

We run INSET and CPD on a range of topics, offer customised support for whole school programmes, including help with gaining accreditations such as the International School Award, Eco-school Green Flag, and Fair Trade School. Sessions can be tailored to meet specific needs. Download our services leaflet here.

Projects

We run a range of projects involving schools and youth groups. Our projects explore themes such as Global Citizenship, North-South linking, Sustainable Schools, community cohesion, and critical literacy. Opportunities exist for schools and youth groups to get involved in current projects or developing ideas for new ones.

An example of a current GED project is Open Spaces for Dialogue and Enquiry where, together with regional and international partners, we have been developing a new methodology for introducing global learning into mainstream education through the citizenship and diversity curriculum.

Resources

We stock a wide range of resources for use in all key stages, curriculum areas and for Global youth work. Materials include issues-based teaching packs, locality packs, environmental resources and artefact boxes. The resource library is free of charge for schools or individual teachers and youth workers who have joined our membership scheme. Download Primary and Secondary (including Youth) catalogues from here.
