Global Education Derby - Learning for a better world

Training

Globalisation is changing the way we live, changing our society and our local neighbourhoods. Bringing benefits on the one hand, and increasing inequalities, fears, and social tensions on the other.
Global Citizenship is about gaining the knowledge, skills and understanding of concepts necessary to respond to this change in a positive way.
It is an important part of the modern curriculum with many different strands. It can be difficult to address but, if tackled well, there are immense benefits for young people, staff and schools.

Our INSET and CPD programmes include:
An introduction to Global Citizenship
The Global Dimension doorway to Sustainable Schools
Active learning through Open Spaces for Dialogue and Enquiry
Global Citizenship and the community cohesion agenda

Here are some quotes from participants on past training programmes:

"It was the best thing I've done in my whole teaching career"

"It made me feel excited about something again. And it made me feel I want to do this and this, and wouldn't it be wonderful if we could do this and this...!! Instead of just looking forward to the end of my teaching career"

"One of the best courses I've been on. Can't wait to try it out at school and tell other staff about it"

Training and support can be tailored to suit your particular needs and subsidies are sometimes available. However, as a guide, prices range from:
Whole school closure day £500
Half day INSET £250
Twilight/staff meetings £125
Individuals attending general training sessions £70
