Good news! ...We've managed to secure a small amount of funding (the Santander Discovery Grant) to enable us to work with local writer, Sophie Sparham, on a project to inspire secondary school children who find extended writing a struggle.
‘Writing is Wrong’ workshop with Sophie Sparham
Writing is wrong is a workshop for teenagers and young adults who disengage with writing, have learning disabilities or struggle with English as a subject. The workshop aims to get the students interested in writing through a series of activities to produce a piece of spoken word to read at the end of the session.
Workshops are available to book for a day or half a day. Sophie can take up to groups of thirty, but groups of ten to fifteen are preferred for maximum output and one to one time.
Sophie has delivered similar workshops successfully in local schools and has already received requests for repeat bookings.
There will be no charge for schools to hold a workshop, although feedback from the teachers and students will be requested to help develop the workshops further.
