GED secured funding from the Big Lottery to take MPR further:
MPR began as...
- A short term project funded by the European Commission Youth in Action 1.2 budget
- Developed as a learning programme using rap music as a platform to explore wider issues of society - Money Power Respect was born
- Young people responded with their own lyrics and beats, sharing their learning in the community - MPR Documentary
MPR April 2013- April 2016...
GED secured funding from the Big Lottery to take MPR further:
- Using hip hop culture to promote youth engagement and ownership of project activities
- Exploring less well known aspects of hip hop culture, such as origins in the civil rights movement and to promote learning and positive social change
- Reach out to more young people using street dance and graffiti to broaden participation
- Support participants to maintain involvement in a mentoring role
- Reconnecting young people at risk of marginalisation with the wider community
